Azumio's 'Instant Heart Rate App' passes the 10 million download mark

Silicon Valley-based Azumio, a company that works with both Stanford and UCSF in developing next generation mobile health technologies, has hit a sweet spot in the fitness app market:   its Instant Heart Rate App passed the 10 million download mark.

Find the App here for iPhone and iPad and here for Android.

The app is a winner for anyone with a fitness routine.  It provides an accurate heart rate reading on-the-go, anytime, anywhere simply by placing your finger over your smartphone's camera. So  if you're curious to know what your heart rate is after a long run, before your weight training, or even in the middle of a workout  Azumio's Instant Heart Rate App does that.

According to the company, the Instant Heart Rate App is the most accurate heart rate monitor app and it only takes 10 seconds to use.  The app works by tracking color changes in the light that passes through your finger.

Peter Kuhar, co-founder and CEO calls the app "a wellness tool that you can carry with you 24x7."

“Being able to use your smartphone to check your heart rate makes it easy to track your level of exertion before and after exercise, figure out if you are exercising in the optimal heart training zone, or even get an idea of your overall health if you’re not near a conventional monitor," said Kuhar.  "That’s why our Instant Heart Rate app has taken off so quickly. It’s a wellness tool that you can carry with you 24x7.”

The iPhone app is 99 cents, and the Android app has a free and a PRO version ($2.99).
