Azealia Banks drops experimental 'Yung Rapunxel' single

Indie rapper Azealia Banks dropped her much anticipated single ahead of schedule on Monday. “Yung Rapunxel,” an experimental electronic track, previews Banks' debut album.

The Lil Internet-produced “Yung Rapunxel” was suppose to premiere on the 26 of this month, but Banks surprised fans with the track's release earlier today. Over a relentless electronic beat, Banks raps about wanting to be free and ultimately cuts loose. She unleashes an aggressive verse where she seems to vent her frustrations, which is a territory that rapper shines on. The bonkers track becomes familiar for a brief moment when Banks hits a rap flow similar to breakout “212,” but then it returns to an off-the-wall production.

“Yung Rapunxel” is the first official single from Banks' upcoming “Broke with Expensive Taste” album. Her debut record is expected to hit shelves later this year. The single's cover art was unveiled last week with a mouthful of Banks.
