Azealia Banks covers The Strokes' 'Barely Legal,' announces single release date

While the world waits for the first single from her debut album, indie rapper Azealia Banks has been dropping new songs on Twitter. The latest one she leaked on Thursday is her dance music take on The Strokes' “Barely Legal” track.

Banks' cover of The Strokes' “Barely Legal,” from the group's 2001 “Is This It” album, was produced by Lindbergh Palace. Over retro '90s house beats, she soulfully sings the introspective track. While she is known more for her rapping, Banks lets her vocals shine for once on the club song.

With the release of her Strokes' cover, Banks also announced that her highly anticipated first single, “Young Rapunxel,” will drop on March 26. The Lil Internet-produced tune will preview her debut album, “Broke With Expensive Taste,” due for release later this year.

Coincidentally, The Strokes returned to the music scene earlier this month with the track “All the Time.” The song is the first single from the group's upcoming "Comedown Machine" album, also due for a March 26 release.
