Admit it. We all have had moments when we do something completely stupid and embarrassing while out visiting the Walt Disney World Resorts. And if you are not a victim of these many awkward moments happening throughout the theme parks and resorts, well, I just don’t believe you. But if you honestly are one of the lucky ones, then my mouse ears go off to you because you are one of very few. However, I guarantee you know someone who has suffered one of the following embarrassing moments at Disney.
Let’s take a look at some of the most awkward moments experienced at the Disney World Parks and Resorts.
As we all know nothing good ever comes after the statement “Hey watch this!” When you here those three spoken words you just know something is about to happen. Whether it is doing a trick into the pool or trying to jump over something. You know when someone is showing off, chances are they are going to trip, fall and end in disaster.
I remember one night at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge a group of guys were drinking and goofing off near the pool. They lined up some lounge chairs and were taking turns seeing who could jump over the most chairs. As you can already imagine, this was not a good idea. One guy landed on the back of the last chair, got tabled up in the slats and both he and the chair went tumbling into the pool. (Okay, I will wait to continue until you have finished laughing…lol.)
Depending upon the weather here in Central Florida conditions at the theme parks and resorts can get a tad bit windy. Especially if there is a storm brewing nearby. That is why I will never wear a summer dress or other flowing skirt to the parks. (Now over a swimsuit, that’s another story.) Reason for this is because I have seen many women turn bright red when a gust of wind captures their dress and swooshes it over their heads. Note to self: Always wear underwear to Disney.
Trip and fall
This is probably the most common awkward moment in Disney history - the trip and fall. Many times it can be a little stumble without the fall, but none-the-less, it can be rather embarrassing to have everyone in the vicinity watch you as you flail your arms trying to regain your balance. Even more embarrassing when you fall to the ground or even add a “dress up!” to the mix. I am a victim of this one myself. Not paying attention to where I was going and BAM! I tripped over a curb near the United Kingdom Pavilion in Epcot.
One of the more memorable trip and falls I have witnessed was a few years back. I was sitting down on a small curb surrounding some plants near the entrance to Epcot. The park was closing so it was dark out. A guy came running toward me yelling for his friend and did not see me sitting on the curb and tripped over me, the curb and fell right into the plants.
"Who put that there"
Disney World is so visually overwhelming guests sometimes forget where they are walking and run into someone or something. I have witnessed this more and more with the introduction of smart phones into our lives. Guests are walking around shooting photos with their cameras, playing video games or texting someone on the phone or just out right not watching where they are walking. Common “hey who put that there” moments include walking into walls, light posts or queue ropes.
Now we all know we have seen these awkward moments while at Disney World. And I have to admit, I am victim to many of them too! Check back for Part II, which I will post later today!
