'Awesomenauts' release in question as publisher files for bankruptcy

Awesomenauts is scheduled to release this week on the Playstation Network and Xbox LIVE Arcade but that release is now up in the air as its German publisher, dtp entertainment, filed for bankruptcy on Sunday.

Even developer Ronimo Games doesn't know how the bankruptcy news will affect the platforming battle arena's release. "At the moment we're unsure what this means for [Awesomenauts]," Ronimo's Jasper Koning told IGN.

The news obviously came as a surprise to Ronimo as the game was featured on Gametrailers TV just last week and a new "How to Play" trailer was released on Friday.

Publisher dtp entertainment is also responsible for Drakensang, Divinity II and Cursed Crusade. As part of its bankrupcty filing (insolvency in Germany), the company will be expected to reorganize or liquidate its assets.

Unfortunately, these kind of proceedings can take months to resolve so it isn't clear if Awesomenauts will be held back until then.
