If you are a loyal "Simpsons"-fan, get ready to break out the tissues. According to E!Online on Monday, September 30, executive producer Al Jean admitted as in a conference call with the press (including The Sun News) that one of the beloved key characters of the Simpsons will get killed of in season 25, which premiered Sunday, September 29 on Fox. The season premiere was called "Homeland" and was of course a spoof of "Homeland".
Neither Al Jean, nor any other cast or crew members are willing to reveal anything about the name of the character at this point. The only hint fans get came from Al Jean: "I'll give you a clue that the actor playing the character won an Emmy for playing that character, but I won't say who it is."
While this is good to know, it really doesn't help much at all in trying to speculate who might be leaving Springfield for good this season. The "Simpsons" had so many award-winning actors that virtually all of the major characters have been rewarded with an Emmy at some point during the 25 years.
Previous winners include Sideshow Bob (Kelsey Grammer), Princess Penelope (Anne Hathaway, and even Marge's mother Jacqueline (Julie Kavner).
So while fans are left to guess and speculate about which "Simpsons" character will get killed off this season, Al Jean was willing to give away a few details about season 25:
The-Comic-Book-Guy will get married in a wedding performed by Stan Lee, who will play himself in the episode, alongside sci-fi-legend Harlan Ellison, who will also be playing himself.
As for the season finale: It will be a "Simpsons"/"Futurama" cross-over episode, which already had a table-read. "It was really, really great to see Bender interact with Homer," Jean said.
It has been 13 years since Maud Flanders got killed off, so why now and more importantly which "Simpson" character will die this season?
What do you think?
Don't miss the all new season of the "Simpsons" and tune in on Sunday at 8/7 p.m. central on Fox.
