Award-winning Boston band Mission Hill coming to Philly

A four-piece alternative indie rock band from Boston, Mission Hill has earned the number one spot on Alternative Addiction’s “Top Ten Unsigned Bands in the Country” list.  Relentless gigging on the East coast, including dates with Candlebox, Secondhand Serenade and The White Tie Affair among others, has generated a huge fan base which keeps Mission Hill at the top of MySpace charts.  Mission Hill very recently signed a deal with independent label Toucan Cove.

Adam Jensen, who is the band’s founder, songwriter, and lead singer, is no stranger to success when standing alone.  Jensen received an LA Music Award for “Indie Male Vocalist of the Year” and was voted “Top Male Vocalist” by Singer Universe Magazine

Mission Hill’s forthcoming album, which is at this time untitled, is currently in the recording and production stage.  The majority of the album is being produced in Ohio by Mark Liggett and Jerry Lane with Legend Underground Studios.  A few of the songs are also being produced and co-written in Nashville by Walt Aldridge, who Billboard Magazine named twice as one of the “Top Ten Country Songwriters.”

The album is set to be released in late October, but Mission Hill has posted its first single “Save Me From Me” on its MySpace page to offer a tantalizing taste of what to anticipate.

Adding to the band’s ever-building buzz, “Save Me From Me” was just added to WXRV’s playlist.  This airplay is no small feat, as WXRV is an independent radio station that is similar in scope and clout in the Boston region to what WXPN is in the Philadelphia region.

Maybe it’s a bit premature to make such a grand speculation on a band that has yet to release its freshman album, but if the group’s mounting momentum is to shine a light on what’s to come, then a blazingly bright future is likely in store for Mission Hill.   Decide for yourself this Friday night when the band performs at World Café Live

Show info: Friday, July 31st at 9:30 pm.  World Cafe Live upstairs (3025 Walnut Street / Philadelphia, PA  19104).  All-ages, $15.  Buy tix here.
