Award winning Blues entertainers appear at R. Landry's

The weekend has arrived which means that many Fort Smith residents will be setting out to enjoy life. Now that the holiday season is over life has returned to normal and things have slowed down a bit. Of course that does not mean that there is nothing to do on the weekend. Many restaurants on Garrison Avenue offer live music for those who want a show along with their dinner. This weekend R. Landry's New Orleans Cafe, located at 613 Garrison Avenue Fort Smith, AR, is showcasing two great Blues acts.

Friday night R. Landry's will be presenting the legendary local Blues band, Oreo Blue. Oreo Blue has been singing the Blues since the mid 1990s. In between then and now the band has appeared in venues throughout Arkansas and Oklahoma. Of course with Fort Smith's most famous Bluesman Gary Hutchinson and legendary drummer Stephen Boudreaux guiding this band, no one can expect anything other than greatness.

Saturday night's featured entertainer is Carter Sampson. For those who have never heard the name before, much less heard the music, Carter Sampson is a Blues singer who hails from Oklahoma and now resides in Fayetteville. Miss Sampson began singing at the ripe old age of fifteen, and has performed at several national events like the Illinois River Jam, the Oklahoma City Festival of the Arts and the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival. She has also appeared at such notable Blues venues like The Blue Door and of course, R. Landry's.

While this may be that great lull in between Christmas and Spring that does not mean that there isn't a lot to do in the Fort Smith area. Blues fans have the opportunity to see two great Blues acts this weekend at R. Landry's New Orleans Cafe, as well as enjoying some great Cajun cuisine to boot. So don't sit at home and sing the Blues this weekend, come to R. Landry's and enjoy some of the best singers of the genre.
