FOOTE RETURNS

-The Avalanche announced Tuesday that team captain Adam Foote had signed a contract to return for the 2010-11 season. Terms of the one year deal were not released.

Foote, who will be playing his 19th NHL season, will turn 39 in July. He has played 16 seasons with the Quebec Nordiques / Colorado Avalanche organization and 2 seasons with the Columbus Blue Jackets.


He was named captain of the Avalanche in September, 2009.after the retirement of Joe Sakic. He is the second captain in Avalanche history.


IIHF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

The IIHF World Championship in Germany has concluded, with the Czech Republic defeating Russia for the championship. Team USA played Germany in an outdoor game before a crowd of 77,803. the largest crowd to ever see a hockey game.

-Coach Joe Sacco, who was an assistant coach and

T.J. Galiardi, three assists 


For Belarus

--Ruslan Salei, one goal and one assist 


For Slovakia

-Peter Budaj, who had a 2- 4 record in goal and Marek Svatos one goal and one assist


For Canada

-Matt Duchene had four goals and three assists and

Kyle Cumiskey had three assists


For Norway

-Jonas Holos had one goal and one assist
