Avril Lavigne rocks a massive 17-carat anniversary rock

Happy anniversary, indeed! One year after she tied the knot with Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger in a French 14th-century castle, singer Avril Lavigne is still being treated like a queen. On Thursday, People posted a pic of the pop princess’s anniversary gift from her rock star hubby – a stunning 17-carat emerald cut diamond ring. The 29-year-old “Smile” singer even gushed on Twitter about how much she loves her man – and her inanely big bling. The tweet has since been deleted, but you can see the pic here.

The celebrity magazine reveals that Mrs. Kroeger is also the proud owner of a 14-carat engagement ring and a 20-carat wedding ring, so it sounds like Chad definitely knows how to pick ‘em – and we think we know why.

In an interview last year with ET Canada, the rocker said he figured out the key to a happy marriage: "Happy wife, happy life. I think every man learns that quick. Really quick,” he said. Clearly he took that theory to heart when he picked out his wife’s latest gift.

E! News nabbed an expert opinion to get an estimate the value of Lavigne’s new bauble, which is so huge it looks like it’s falling off of her finger in the photo. MAS Creative told the site the ring could be worth “anywhere from several hundred thousand [dollars] to in the millions, depending on color and clarity."

Of course, Lavigne isn’t the only Hollywood star to rock some major carats, but her anniversary gift definitely dwarfs another famous ring. When Kim Kardashian got engaged to Kanye West last year, the rapper famously presented her a 15-carat Lorraine Schwartz ring. Nothing to sneeze at, but Avril’s bling is bigger!

In fact, it may take a royal to outdo Lavigne’s big rock. In 2010, Prince William presented his future wife Kate Middleton with an 18-carat oval sapphire surrounded by diamonds. Of course, in that case the size was secondary. What made Kate’s ring super special was the fact that it was actually Princess Diana's engagement ring.
