Lavigne is set to release her fifth album, a self-titled one, next month. It has already been previewed by the singles "Here's to Never Growing Up" and "Rock N Roll." She teams up with Nickelback frontman Kroeger on the new song "Let Me Go."
"Let Me Go" is a piano ballad where Lavigne and Kroeger sing about a relationship gone kaput. "I'm breaking free from these memories / Got to let it go," Avril sings during the chorus. Both artists give haunting performances on the pop-rock track. The music video for "Let Me Go" channels that haunting quality well. Lavigne plays a ghost wanting love while Kroeger is a groundskeeper on the premises. The two later meet up for a magical moment before reality sadly sets in.
"Let Me Go" is now available on iTunes. Lavigne's self-titled album drops soon after on November 5.
