Avril Lavigne received something very special from her husband. Forget the paper gift that is traditionally given for a one-year anniversary. Her husband Chad Kroeger of Nickelback went all out and gave his pop princess a beautifully 17-carat diamond ring. On Thursday, Lavigne posted a picture of her and Kroeger on her Twitter page. ABC News quoted the pop artist saying “I still can't believe my 1 year anniversary gift. 17 carat emerald cut. Wow. I love my hubby.”

He really made a big deal out of their one-year wedding anniversary. The flashy diamond ring was the highlight of the photograph. It is absolutely stunning. The ring is so large that it looks like it takes up half or her finger. It will be interesting to see what her rock-star husband does next year. He truly does treat her like a princess.

The ring was larger than the one the Kroeger used to propose to Lavigne in 2012. It was only 14 carats. To most, that is a huge chunk of bling. The pear-shaped engagement ring was given to her after only month of dating.

The couple was married on July 1st, 2013. The wedding was gothic- themed. Just what Lavigne had always dreamed of. She wanted it to be extravagant. They were married at Chateau de Napoule, a medieval castle near Cannes, France. Lavigne wore a stunning black tulle Monique Lhuiller gown. She carried a bouquet of black roses.

A few months ago the couple was rumored to have split because of their strict rules for their marriage. Lavigne and Kroeger made a decision early on in the marriage that they would not drink or party without each other. Celeb Dirty Laundry shared that Lavigne had been seen without her wedding ring on in May. Many wondered how much longer the relationship would last.
This is Kroeger’s first marriage and Lavigne’s second. She was married to Deryck Whibley of Sum 41. Their marriage only lasted three years.
