Avril Lavigne has added juice to the Backstreet Boys' newly expanded tour of U.S. and Canada, but her billing as "very special guest" rather than as a co-headliner has been called into question by industry trade magazine Billboard.

According to a news release posted March 14 at, the Canadian punk pop princess' new self-titled album has sold over 125,000 copies since November while BSB's latest release "In A World Like This" has moved only 110,000 copies since July.

Though both artists' albums charted equally well on the Billboard 200, hitting the top 5, BSB's album sales have remained sluggish despite mounting an extensive support tour, which began last Aug. with special guests which have included: Jesse McCartney, DJ Pauly D and B5, raising eyebrows about why Lavigne has not been billed as a co-headliner.

The tour kicks off May 3 in Moncton, MB at Moncton Coliseum Arena and winds up June 22 in Wantagh, N.Y. at Nikon at Jones Beach Theater.

Other Canadian stops include:
May 4 Halifax, NS Halifax Metro Centre
