Summer time is a great time to take vacation, to travel and see new sights, or to visit friends and family that have been missed.
There are a few things to do to try and make vacation time a relaxing and enjoyable experience rather than a nightmare where you wish you had just stayed home.
If traveling by vehicle, make sure the automobile is travel worthy. Check the tires, oil, and get a tune up if necessary. Whether you are traveling by air or vehicle or other form of transportation to keep the children amused; bring along games, movies, books, and other forms of entertainment. Also, do not forget to pack a cooler with drinks and snacks.
Make sure that you have all the proper paperwork needed. From airplane tickets, directions, form of payment and hotel reservations to passports, personal i.d., and discount cards, i.e. AAA, entertainment card, etc..
If requesting special arrangements, call ahead to verify that these requests can be accommodated. Do not presume that just because it is on your reservation that the request will be honored.
At check in, ask for upgrades if available and also check to see what other accommodations, discounts, or activities may be offered.
Be aware of where and when you are traveling to. For instance, if you are looking for a quiet, relaxing stay do not expect a quiet vacation if you are going to Daytona, FL during spring break. Check with the hotel before you make reservations and ask the staff what the atmosphere is like or what to expect during your stay.
Last but not least, relax and enjoy your vacation.
