The summer is coming to a close, no more beach trips, no more long sunny days, so long pool days, good bye warm weather. Now it's back to school and back to reality. You may have spent the summer maintaining that beach body, and enjoying the great out doors every chance you had. Labor day weekend should not be an excuse to let it all go!
Here are some ways to keep things going and staying healthy during this Labor day weekend!
1. Take a walk! If you have the typical 3 day weekend try and go for 3 walks, one in the dewy morning, one at noon for some vitamin D, and one after dinner. Make sure they are at least 20 minutes each, and keep a higher pace than just a leisure walk. Doing this will ensure you have at least 60 minutes of exercise without a hassle! Usually Labor day has great weather (fingers crossed)! Remember being healthy means not just healthy diet, but you also need exercise!
2. Be calorie conscious: Most likely there will be at least one amazing cook out with all the right stuff. The smell of Labor day festivities: the grill going, great desserts, and refreshing beverages will be overwhelming! Just be sure to still reach for good choices. Instead of a juicy burger, have grilled chicken. If you can't resist the burger, put it on lettuce instead of making a colossal burger sandwich. Even suggest grilling a ton of veggies such as zucchini, portobello mushrooms, corn, and bell peppers. Try and modify your favorite choice or your biggest craving so it's as healthy as you can get! But please ENJOY yourself and allow ONE treat... we are only human!
3. Hydrate! The easiest thing you can do is drink water all day. Even if you can't get to a gym, or the weather doesn't permit a walk or run outside, at least you can keep drinking water. This will help fight cravings, keep you full, and keep burning fat, the more hydrated you are and the more water you drink, the more fat you burn!
Keep these strategies in mind this Labor day weekend, so you won't fall too far off the wagon! Good luck!
