Avid bowler Chris Paul's annual charity event to air on ESPN before Super Bowl

It's no secret in the bowling world of Chris Paul's affection for the sport and there's no place he displays that more than his annual on-lanes event.

The fourth annual Chris Paul Professional Bowlers Association Celebrity Invitational will air this Sunday at 4 p.m. ET on ESPN. The two-hour telecast of the event, presented by Sheets Brand, will take place during the pre-game buildup to Super Bowl XLVI.

Paul, who took up bowling while growing up in North Carolina, has continued his love through his days at Wake Forest University and with the New Orleans Hornets and Los Angeles Clippers of the National Basketball Association. He uses the Celebrity Invitational as a special benefit for his CP3 Foundation.

One of his current teammates, Clippers forward and 2010-11 NBA Rookie of the Year Blake Griffin, is among the celebrities who participated in the event taped earlier this year at Lucky Strike at LA Live in Los Angeles. The venue is across from the Staples Center where Paul and Griffin play their home games.

Among the other celebrities involved are former University of Southern California and current Miami Dolphins running back Reggie Bush, former New York Giants defensive lineman and Fox football analyst Michael Strahan, actors Jesse Williams (Grey’s Anatomy) and Jerry Ferrara (Entourage), comedian Kevin Hart and Grammy Award-winning recording artist Ciara. Comedian and “The Price is Right” host Drew Carey also was in attendance. “Mindless Behavior,” one of the hottest groups on the contemporary music scene, provided the musical entertainment.

Competing with the celebrities were members of the Storm Bowling Products professional staff Pete Weber, Wes Malott, Ryan Shafer and two-handed sensation Jason Belmonte who teamed with Paul.

The CP3 Foundation, founded in 2005 as a tribute to Paul's late grandfather and the Winston-Salem, N.C., community where Paul grew up, has provided funding for activities ranging from a scholarship program to food drives to recreational support programs for underprivileged children.
