As we approach the spring season, I start receiving more invites to attend beauty and style events here in New York City. I must confess... that the highlight of most of these events is scoring a swag bag. Now don't get me wrong, it's great to be on the receiving side at these events, but sometimes it feels just as equally fulfilling to give back!
On Monday, April 22nd I'll be celebrating Earth Day with Aveda as they plan to set the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® FOR MOST MONEY RAISED FOR A CHARITY BY HAIRCUTS IN A 24-HOUR PERIOD by creating a global cut-a-thon. Every Aveda salon worldwide – from Tokyo to Sydney, Moscow to London and New York to Los Angeles – are volunteering their time to offer haircuts in return for a donation to the annual Aveda Earth Month campaign. This event is part of a global effort by the Aveda network of beauty professionals to raise $5 million for clean water in April 2013. This wonderful event will be open to New Yorkers and they will have the opportunity to meet with Global Artistic Director for Aveda, Ricardo Dinis, at the Aveda Institute (233 Spring Street) offering everything from drastic makeovers to subtle Spring/Summer style changes. I'll be there supporting this great cause and getting a new do. Hope to see you there!

WHAT:
Local charity, Clean Ocean Action, will receive 100% of the proceeds from the event and representatives will be on hand to share their work with event attendees. The goal of Clean Ocean Action is to restore, improve, and protect the water quality of the ocean and local water ways in NY/NJ.
There will be a silent auction with donated items from local restaurants, shops, galleries, staff and students. Betel restaurant will provide catering with an authentic approach to Southeast Asian flavors and ingredients.

· Instructor Haircuts: $40 (45 minutes)
· Specialty Blow Dry: $10
