"I’m not trying to make people feel guilty. I just want them to internalize a sense of respect and a sense of taking responsibility for the stewardship of the earth and I think this film can do that by creating an emotional reaction," Director James Cameron stated in a December 2009 Filmcast interview.

The AutoNation IMAX Theater's presentation of AVATAR: SPECIAL EDITION - An IMAX 3D Experience® is projected exclusively on classic 15-perforation/70mm IMAX 3D film. Featuring 16-18k of resolution per film frame, our true IMAX 3D film format takes full advantage of South Florida's largest screen, delivering a fully-immersive cinematic experience of the best kind, where the revolutionary technology invented to make the film disappears into the emotion of the characters and the sweep of the story.

The movie takes fans to a spectacular world beyond imagination, where a reluctant hero embarks on an epic adventure, ultimately fighting to save the alien world he has learned to call home. James Cameron, the Oscar-winning director of “Titanic,” first conceived the film 15 years ago, when the means to realize his vision did not exist yet. Four years in production, AVATAR 3D, a live action film with a new generation of special effects, delivers a fully immersive cinematic experience of a new kind, where the revolutionary technology invented to make the film disappears into the emotion of the characters and the sweep of the story. AVATAR 3D is distributed by Twentieth Century Fox. This film is rated PG-13.

Combo tickets including movie exhibits and the IMAX film are $20 Adults; $17 Children 2-12. IMAX only tickets are $14 Adults/Seniors; $11 Children 2-12. Contact the box office at 954.713.0930 for advance tickets.

The movie will be shown on Fridays at 7:15 p.m, Saturdays at 5:45 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., and Sundays at 5:45 p.m.. For show times, please visit

This re-release will also undoubtedly draw increased attention not only to the world of Pandora on screen, but the one that is currently being created in Central Florida. Through an exclusive agreement, Disney will partner with James Cameron and producing partner Jon Landau to create themed lands that will give theme park guests the opportunity to explore the mysterious universe of AVATAR first hand. Disney plans to build the first AVATAR themed land at Walt Disney World, within the Animal Kingdom park. With its emphasis on living in harmony with nature, Animal Kingdom is a natural fit for the AVATAR stories, which share the same philosophy.

“AVATAR created a world which audiences can discover again and again and now, through this incredible partnership with Disney, we’ll be able to bring Pandora to life like never before. With two new AVATAR films currently in development, we’ll have even more locations, characters and stories to explore,” said James Cameron. ”I’m chomping at the bit to start work with Disney’s legendary Imagineers to bring our AVATAR universe to life. Our goal is to go beyond current boundaries of technical innovation and experiential storytelling, and give park goers the chance to see, hear, and touch the world of AVATAR with an unprecedented sense of reality.”

According to published reports, there are several other Avatar movies currently in pre-production, as well as the themed experiences at Walt Disney World. It will be quite interesting to see how well the world of Pandora will fair in the long run, both on screen and on the ground. Will it have the staying power everyone hopes?
