Legendary and sometimes hermit-like singer/songwriter Scott Walker will team-up with drone metal band Sunn O))) on an album to be released on 4AD Records in September, 2014. Walker's last album was 2012's Bish Bosch.

Scott Walker has amassed and sustained a loyal listenership over the last five decades beginning in the mid-60s when he was the primary lead voice of the pop hit-makers The Walker Brothers. Although in the US The Walkers were limited to roughly two and a half hits, the best known being 'The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore,' in Europe and Asia they were superstars whose fame at one point rivaled that of The Beatles.

After the split of The Walker Brothers in the late '60s (They were a trio, none of whom were born with the name Walker) Noel Scott Engel went on to have a solo career that has included many peaks and valleys as his musical and artistic vision moved further and further in an experimental direction. Along with his own albums he has written music for film and for a ballet.

Sunn O))) is an American band from Seattle that has released 6 studio albums. Their musical style incorporates drone, ambient, noise, and extreme metal.

Scott Walker's recent work has been more of a collage of words and sounds rather than "music" in the conventional sense. Walker fans will be anxious to hear how the new collaboration meshes their respective musical and artistic approaches.

One thing is certain: it won't sound like The Walker Brothers of the 1960s.
