AV residents can donate blood and learn tea etiquette this weekend

There are several community events going on this weekend for Palmdale and Lancaster residents.

First up is the Palmdale Aerospace Academy’s Gryffingear Robotics Team 5012’s community blood drive which will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the school’s gym. Everyone who donates will receive a voucher for a free pint of ice cream from Baskin Robbins. To make an appointment call Nardy Lopez at (661) 916-8070 or email nardylopez70@gmail.com. The school is located at 38060 20th Street East, Palmdale.

Beginning at 11 a.m. a free etiquette seminar will be held at the Palmdale City Library, 700 E. Palmdale Blvd., for girls. The event is sponsored by the L.A.C.E.E. (Ladies Achieving Charm, Etiquette and Empowerment) Project.

On Sunday, the inaugural Cinco de Mayo festival begins at noon at Desert Sands Park, 39117 3rd St. East, Palmdale. Presented by the Tavera Foundation, it will feature music by Los Incomparables de Tijuana, Los Tajadores De Sinaloa, Jesus Ramon Cordova, Skuadron, Luz del Vale, Yolanda Meza and many more.

DryTown Water Park in Palmdale will hold a special one day only ticket sale on Monday, May 5 where customers can purchase day use tickets for only $8. “This is the deal of the year!” said DryTown Manager Eric Dombrowski. “For only $8, you can buy a daily admission ticket that can be used any day during the 2014 season. That’s as much as $13 off the regular admission price. Plus, there’s no limit on how many tickets you can buy!”

To purchase these $8 tickets, customers may visit the DryTown Box Office, located at 3850-B East Avenue S between 12 noon and 5 pm or visit their website. The offer ends at 11:59 pm on May 5.
