Autumn chill to follow Saturday's severe storms

A noticeably cooler air mass, one that is typical for this time of year, follows Saturday's storms that impacted the Chicago metro region with torrential rainfall, highs winds, hail, and intense lightning. Numerous severe weather warnings were issued by Chicago's National Weather Service Office as a result. Temperatures ahead of the storm system on Saturday climbed into the 80s. Today, temperatures will be 15 to 20 degrees cooler amid gusty west-southwest winds. A weak disturbance will pass over the area on Monday providing the chance for showers. After Monday, the rest of the week will be dry with highs in the 60s, typical for this time of year.
