If you didn’t see enough hot rod and custom car action over the summer months at Detroit area car shows and the Woodward Dream Cruise, you have a chance to get a quick fix at the Autorama World of Wheels Cavalcade of Customs.
The Autorama show is sanctioned by International Show Car Association (ISCA). This year’s show will be held at the air conditioned Cobo Center in Detroit, Friday February 24 through Sunday February 26.
In addition to custom cars and hot rods, visitors will have a chance to see top quality custom motorcycles, sports and performance cars.
Who will win the Ridler award?
The Ridler Award has nothing whatsoever to do with the Batman TV series or films. Mr. Don Ridler was the first professional promoter hired by the Michigan Hot Rod Association to assist with their fledgling Autorama in the fifties. After Ridler passed away in 1963, the Ridler Award was created to honor his memory.
The Ridler Award is intended to honor individuals who are especially creative in designing and building cars. The award, geared to honor new creations, is awarded only to cars shown at the Detroit Autorama for the first time. The car judged to display the most creativity, engineering and workmanship wins the award.

Top quality classics, customs, bikes and hot rods from Detroit and around the country will cover an entire floor of Detroit's Cobo Center. Check out the slide show, which is just a small sample of cars on display at previous Autorama shows. The workmanship and creativity on display has to be seen in person to be believed.
What else is there to do in Detroit on a February weekend? It's what we do here, right?
