Autopsy: Jovan Belcher drunk by twice legal limit during murder-suicide (Video)

Early in the morning of Dec. 1, 2012, Kansas City Chiefs’ linebacker Jovan Belcher killed his 22-year-old girlfriend Kasandra Perkins by shooting her nine times. Belcher then drove a short distance to the Chiefs’ practice facility where he met and thanked his coach and general manager, and then shot and killed himself in front of them.

Today, the Jackson County Medical Examiner released the results of autopsies performed on both Belcher and Kasandra Perkins. Belcher’s autopsy revealed that he was legally drunk by twice the legal limit when he carried out his murder-suicide.

The autopsy report released Monday says Perkins was shot in the neck, chest, abdomen, hip, back, leg and hand.

Belcher's blood-alcohol level was 0.17, and was likely higher at the time of the shooting. The legal limit is 0.08 percent. ~ Sports Illustrated

Several hours before he killed Perkins, Kansas City Police found Belcher sleeping in his car outside the couple’s home.

Police released their dashboard video of their encounter with the Chiefs’ linebacker which took place around 3 a.m. that fateful Saturday. See the video accompanying this article.

The video captured a conversation between Belcher and three Kansas City officers. The NFL shared that the cops commended Belcher for not driving.

The video also shows Belcher exiting his vehicle and speaking to the police as a quick check of his car was performed.

Before leaving the scene, Belcher thanked the police for their help.

Reports now show that Belcher and Perkins began arguing starting at about 1:00 a.m. Two hours after those arguments started is when the police found Belcher sleeping in his car.

Five hours after that, both Perkins and Belcher were dead.

Jovan Belcher and Kasandra Perkins left behind an infant daughter, Zoey, who is now 4-months-old.

Both Belcher’s and Perkins' parents have filed for custody of baby Zoey.
