Automorrow, the ever-changing reggae-rock band from North Texas, has a new single that they can’t wait to share! “Get Your Own Friends” is the bands’ newest material since their first EP, Diver, hit the shelves in 2008. Unlike Diver, which scaled from reggae to mellow rock, this track hits heavy with varying notes, high-strung vocals, and invigorating guitar solos.
The group consists of three members who play everything from keyboard to bass and percussion to make their sound work. Automorrow has been together since 2005, using the Internet to successfully market themselves every step of the way. They incorporated UStream to broadcast their live recording sessions of their first EP. Since this is a more unconventional route, you wonder if it worked? They have a hefty number of followers online ready for their next broadcast. Their tech-savvy website invites you to follow them on twitter alongside each page you navigate, while the header functions as a player to allow you to sample their songs. The band even has ring tones for multiple tracks.
The aforementioned new material brings in a Dave Grohl style of yelling-while-resonating lyrics and a faster beat that suits Automorrow well. The song has evolved from their old tracks, showing they’ve either found their intended direction or decided to delve further into the rock world. Either way, it works.
The track will be out on February 5 and will be available at Amazon, iTunes, and Napster. They won’t be back in the DFW area until March 15, where they will be playing at the Grotto in Fort Worth.
