Auto Q&A with Tom Torbjornsen: What does DOHC stand for?

See also

Dear Tom,
Our Chrysler Sebring 2003 has a DOHC sign on the engine. Is there any way to know what this stands for? Thank you.
Gaby from Irondequoit, N.Y.

Gaby,
The acronym DOHC stands for Double Over Head Cam. Your engine has two camshafts, one for each set of valves per cylinder. Each camshaft controls the valve set on each side of the cylinder head.
