Auto Q&A with Tom Torbjornsen: Tips to keep your car running strong

Dear Tom,

I own a 2006 Dodge Durango. It just passed the 100,000-mile mark. What are some things I should do to keep it running great? I change the oil religiously every 3,000 miles and it just had a tune-up. I love this vehicle and would love to keep her going strong for a long time.

Jack from Boston, N.Y.

Jack,

The best piece of advice I can give is to continue to follow the suggested maintenance schedule for severe service applications. This schedule is more rigorous than the normal suggested service application and will ensure that you realize the highest mileage out of your beloved Durango. One thing I would do is to change over all lubricants to synthetics if you haven’t already done so. Good quality synthetics are AMSOIL or Mobil One, numbers one and two respectively.
