The Naturally Autistic® ANCA® radio shows began January 2011. The shows began with weekly live airings show-casing people and organizations making a difference in education, the arts and design, consulting, business, family values, travel and in the social media networks.
January 2012 will mark the one year anniversary for this internet radio station and will celebrate a volunteer by the name of Scott Jackson who supported many autistic radio show hosts to learn the skills and techniques of the internet radio and who would in turn pass Scott’s legacy on to others.
Scott Jackson was introduced to the Naturally Autistic® ANCA® umbrella through common interests and social media friends in 2008/2009. In 2010 he took an interest in the philanthropic values of the organization and interviewed the co-founders later joining the ANCA® newsletter team, after the inaugural International Naturally Autistic ®People Awards™ was held in Canada.
The radio shows developed from monthly to weekly to two daily shows by June 2011. Each month, the shows combined, [including archive listeners] receive an average of 500 listeners. The radio itself has an average of approximately 1500 viewings per month, not bad for a new radio station, and for the autistic hosts and co-host guests from Canada, USA, the UK and Australia.
Each week, this column will highlight a volunteer on the international stage, who is making a difference and impacting the lives of autistic people and their families, as Scott Jackson has and continues to do.
This Week Ahead: Daily shows will feature nominees from the 2011 International Naturally Autistic People Awards and Convention as well as people in the global autistic community, making a difference. - Wednesday – Noon; Adults Speak shares values and beliefs in the autistic community between four countries, Canada, Scotland, England, USA and Australia – special guest Jane Strauss will talk about her published writings with the group
- Thursday – 5-6pm; Teen Talk’s hosts Erin Clemens and Tim Pylypiuk will discuss Christmas Traditions and ideas.
