Autism: Top 5 autism websites

Bookmark and Share

Autism websites that 'point fingers' are a dime a dozen. Autism websites that are peddling the ‘cure of the moment’ are also. Finding autism websites that help with the everyday needs of the autism community aren’t so easy to come by. In this article I will point out a list of 5 autism websites that do just that.

Here’s the list:
1.       Autism Hangout
2.       Rethink Autism
3.       Kyles Treehouse
4.       Wright’s Law
5.       nonPareil

Autism Hangout comes in number one due to its friendly, informative and easy to use format. Craig Evans gathers experts in the field of autism from all over the world to give short concise presentations. Coming soon are webinars too. And get this….they’re FREE. You don’t have to put in an annoying code either…just mark the dates and show up for the free livestream presentation. There are friendly forums and places to blog as well. Go there now and you can see static videos right now to give you an idea! Just click the menu button to see where you can view video on demand. Once again…FREE. Here’s the link:

ReThink Autism is almost as good as having unlimited ABA…and they have it at an affordable price. If you know ABA is for your child and you, like many, don’t have time or resources to shuttle back and forth to therapies…this ‘at home’ version could very well be for you.

Kyle’s Treehouse is a great resource. It’s fun and full of information. Here’s what the website says about what it does:

“Kyle’s Treehouse is a 501 (c) 3 organization founded by Jenifer and Jeffrey Westphal, whose son Kyle was diagnosed in 1998. During the search for a diagnosis, a friend told the Westphals about The Son-Rise Program®, a home-based, parent-led, child-centered treatment option. After more than four years of this therapy, Kyle emerged from his autistic state.

While going through this experience, the Westphals were frustrated by the difficulty in learning about autism. There was no clearinghouse that provided information on the pros and cons of various treatments. While they found a treatment that was a good fit for them, they realized that it wasn’t for everyone. And there are dozens of different options for families to choose from. A nearly impossible task.

So they started the Treehouse. In a few short years, what was originally an informational resource has evolved into a community, where hundreds of thousands of visitors learn from each other every year. We’re glad you’ve become one of them.”

Wright’s Law is a resource that parents, educators and advocates can turn to if they have a question about special needs in terms of education and basic rights. It provides reliable information about special education law and advocacy for children with disabilities.

nonPareil is a website of hope for adults on the spectrum. It is more internet/computer intensive than the farm model, although that is also a good one. The whole philosophy behind nonPareil is very different, though, and if you are an adult with autism or know one, you definitely want to check this one out. At nonPareil, Dan Selec takes training, job placement and residential living facilities for adults on the spectrum to a whole new level!

So here we have a list of 'Top 5 Autism Websites'. Please visit them and take advantage of the wealth of information that each one provides.
