The month of April is Autism Awareness Month. On the evenings of April 1 and 2, 2011, buildings throughout North America and the world are turning their lights blue to build awareness for families afflicted by autism and to kick off World Autism Awareness Day on April 2, 2011. Join the LIght It Up Blue movement, which include the Empire State Building, Niagara Falls, and the CN Tower. Come be a part of this special Autism Speaks event.
Other ways to participate in going blue:
- Wear blue attire
- Have a "blue" party with blue drinks, blue chips, blueberries, blue balloons, blue plates, blue flowers..
- Write letters in blue ink on blue paper
- Spread the word
We're lighting up our neighborhood blue, are you? It is a subtle way to send a big message. As dedication to all those "gems" we love with autism, I will be displaying blue gems in the yard and lighting them up each night. If you have a child or know of an individual with autism, please forward me their first name and age (to be written on the gem) to firstname.lastname@example.org . I will display each precious gem with the utmost pride.
