Attention autism researchers, educators, autism experts and advocates….your presence and participation is requested. TISE (Technology Integration in Special Education –Ning) is a group of autism advocates and researchers whose goal is to address obstacles affecting the integration of technology into the lives of the special education community and then collaborate on ways to resolve them.
Michael Leventhal, originator, facilitator and moderator of the TISE, would like everyone to participate in the ongoing discussion that would join in the effort to:
• Promote the overall integration of technology for the Special Education community • Clarify issues hampering the integration process • Structure collaboration for actionable results • Connect those who use technology with those who create it.
The first project of the TISE Ning, is: Video Modeling: Providing the community with content/service and an efficient method of distribution, with which the focus group (divided into three distinct sections), lead by Michael Leventhal, has the intention of accomplishing the following:
• Identify concerns of parents, educators and administrator regarding use of video modeling. • Determine what information and services are needed to satisfactorily address these concerns • Identify potential sources of such information or services Absent appropriate sources, create content or services. • Propose a means of linking people with these resources • Be presented in a panel presentation at the ISTE 2010 conference
The Groups are: 1. Integration with Autism
This group will discuss specific proposals that advance the use of technology with Autism. It will also host associated project-based collaborations Members of this group will be asked to respond to questions, polls or calls for special project volunteers. Satellite groups will be formed on an as-need basis.
Efforts of this group will support the activities of ISTE 2010, an invitation-only platform for researchers, parents, educators and administrators committed to a synergy in service of autism that will focus on two key issues:
1.What do visitors need in order to initiate a VM project?
2.What is the nature of a system best suited to delivering solutions to these needs?
2. ISTE 2010
This is a platform for VM researchers, parents, educators and administrators committed to increasing the use of video modeling at home and school. Anyone can request an invitation to ISTE 2010 Collaborators.
Once complete, this group will be representative of the autism educational community, including the researchers who helped define the field, parents, educators and administrators who use it.
The group objective is to create an online community linking the lay public to reliable sources of the information and services they will need to conduct a successful video modeling program.
3. Stakeholder Survey This group is responsible for construction, distribution and interpretation of a survey identifying stakeholder issues that would impede efforts to widen the VM user-base.
*If you are an autism researcher, educator, autism expert or advocate and would like to make a contribution in this 'not for profit' research, please contact Michael Leventhal at the TISE Ning.
