The Steuben County Sheriff's Office is seeking the publics help in locating a single engine Cessna that has been reported stolen from the local airport. The AOPA has also published the information on it's website in an effort to enlist it's hundreds of thousands of pilot's in locating the airplane.
The plane, a Cessna 150 D, was reported missing from Hornell Municipal Airport (4G6) in Hornell, NY on October 4th; however, it was last seen September 20th. The airplane owner was informed by airport management that employees noticed the airplane was missing for an extended time and initially assumed it was sold. When the airport finally inquired with the owner, he contacted police to report the plane stolen.
The plane has a registration number (tail number) of N43ED and was formally registered in Canada, with the outline of the old large numbers visible on the underside of the wings. According to other news reports and the AOPA, the aircraft had an engine upgrade to a 150hp engine with newer propeller.
Anyone with information on a possible suspect or leads on the location on the missing airplane is asked to contact the Steuben County Sheriff's Office at (607) 776-7009 or make an anonymous report through the sheriff office's website at www.steubencony.org/sheriff.
