Stephanie Tolan is known to many parents of gifted children as the author of the perceptive essay on what giftedness means, Is It a Cheetah? Ms. Tolan has also authored numerous children's novels featuring gifted protagonists and is the co-author of the book Guiding the Gifted Child.
Parents of gifted children in Colorado are fortunate to have two opportunities to hear Ms. Tolan speak in our state this October. Jefferson County Association for Gifted Children (JAGC) is hosting Ms. Tolan's presentation, Gifted Identity: Inspiring Personal Growth, on Wednesday, October 5th at the Jefferson County Education Center in Golden, Colorado.
Where: Jefferson County Education Center, Building #27
School Board Room, 5th Floor
1829 Denver West Drive, Golden
When: Wednesday, October 5, 2011

This is a free presentation although donations are appreciated. The presentation will be preceeded by a book fair featuring books about parenting and teaching gifted children, Usborne educational books, and several of Ms. Tolan's titles. The book fair begins at 5:45 with a portion of the proceeds benefitting JAGC.
Also in October, Ms. Tolan will be speaking to Colorado parents about gifted children who don't fit the mold of what is often seen as gifted in today's school systems. This speaking engagement, Gifted Creatives, is brought to us by Boulder Valley Gifted and Talented (BVGT) and will take place in Boulder on October 12th.
