Everyone is invited on an armchair road trip with author Tim Dorsey Saturday, Feb. 11, at 5 p.m. as he discusses and signs his new book, Pineapple Grenade, at Hooked on Books in Islamorada.
In the hilarious book, gloriously unrepentant Florida serial killer Serge Storms has finagled his way into becoming a secret agent in Miami, spying for the president of a banana republic. Will he still have time for a cocktail before Homeland Security brings him down?
There's a media frenzy over the "Hollow Man," a corpse found on the beach without any guts. Just as strange, someone's been leaving giant shark carcasses at busy intersections around the city. But things get fishy when medical examiners realize that the carcasses contain severed limbs from another body. Could this be the work of Serge Storms, the eccentric trivialista and one-man vigilante?
Meanwhile, a mysterious Mafioso named Victor is shuttling in arms, including precarious grenade launchers that set off at the slightest touch. As this is taking place, Homeland Security is trying to win conservative votes by inventing a new color for the highest-level of terrorist threat, all while the Gulf oil spills lap against Florida's shores.
Dorsey lives in Tampa with his family and has published 15 novels.
