Donald Ray Pollock, author of KnockEmStiff, will host two sessions September 10th in the bookstall at Hicks Undergraduate Library. The first session will be a discussion on the craft of writing that begins at 4:30 p.m. Pollock will read selections from his latest novel, KnockEmStiff, at the second sessions, which begins at 7:30 p.m.
Purdue’s Visiting Writers Series began in 1928 and has featured such renowned authors as Tennessee Williams, Saul Bellow, Joyce Carol Oates and Grace Paley. The series is hosted by the university’s English department and runs in conjunction with the annual Purdue Literary Awards.
Pollock’s novel, KnockEmStiff, is a collection of stories that revolve around the author's hometown, Knockemstiff, Ohio. The book earned Pollock the 2009 PEN / Robert Bingham Fellowship for Writers award. The sessions with Donald Ray Pollock are free and the public is invited to attend.
