Author Christopher Hitchens died tonight from complications of esophageal cancer

 Author, journalist and Vanity Fair contributor Christopher Hitchens died tonight from pneumonia at Houston’s MD Anderson Cancer Center. It was a complication of his long battle with esophageal cancer, Christopher Hitchens was only 62 years old.

Vanity Fair announced his death today, editor Graydon Carter releases this statement,

There will never be another like Christopher. A man of ferocious intellect, who was as vibrant on the page as he was at the bar. Those who read him felt they knew him, and those who knew him were profoundly fortunate souls.

 Christopher Hitchens is survived by his wife, Carol Blue, their daughter Antonia, and Alexander and Sophia, his two children from a previous marriage.
