An in depth interview with the beautiful and talented Australian actress- Lillie Claire!
How and when did you first get into performing?
I was always devising shows with my girlfriend and performing them in our living rooms for our families. One Christmas I played Frosty the Snowman. Seriously, that was when it hit me."I'm going to be an Actor, I got this."
Who were some of your biggest inspirations?
My Mum and my Dad. They were inspiring to me as they believed in me, that I could do and be anything I wanted. And I witnessed them keep going in their own lives despite the fears they lived with. Great actors, film makers and musicians were always an inspiration to me; I'm still in awe of their talent and drive to deliver the best they can every time.
What kind have training have you done?
I began my training in Australia in a three year acting program under the guide of some extraordinary teachers who were trained by LA based acting coach Eric Morris. He is all about being- not "Acting". Acting is a funny thing when you think about it, it's not about putting something "on" but rather about taking the masks off; and just being. I have also trained through threads of Meisner, Practical Aesthetics, Warner Loughlin, Diana Castle, and Larry Moss. I am in deep gratitude for the teachers I have been blessed to work with and believe everyone and everything can be our teacher.
What has been your favorite role to play so far and why?
I played two very different roles in a Theater Production of Stephen Adly Guirgis' The Last days of Judas Iscariot. That was one of the most exhilarating times to go from a darkly despairing character to a comedic-flying angel every night!
What projects do you have coming up?
I have a dark-comedy web series that I am writing with a friend right now. It's going to rock! Also a couple of feature films that I am so excited to work on with such an awesome team of creative artists.
Who would be your ideal co-star and why?
Ryan Gosling. Why not...Ryan Gosling? And also Nicole Kidman, I could play her little sister. ;)
There are so many actors that I want to work with because of their talent and humility; Natalie Portman, Michelle Williams, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tom Hardy... the list is endless.
What are your plans for the future?
To live in beautiful LA, to explore more of the diverse world, to write write write and create create create!
What is your advice to other aspiring artists?
Seek out the best teachers, create a daily practice of meditation, voice work, move your body in a way that feels good to you and read lots of plays and films. Go out and meet people, tell everyone what you do (even if you don't professionally do it yet), and stay open to the infinite possibilities. Yes there is the business side to the Industry and things work a certain way, but there is always another way. Find it!
