An interview with the beautiful and talented Australian actress Jade Oremus.
Please introduce yourself to the readers:
My name is Jade Oremus. I’ve been acting professionally for over 20 years- appearing in my first professional production at the age of 5.
How and when did you first get into performing?
I have been performing in commercials and theatre since I was 5 years old but I first started to view acting as a career choice when I attended the McDonald College of Performing Arts which solidified my love of acting and prepared me for the subsequent work I did in television and film.
Who were some of your biggest inspirations?
I’ve always admired Susan Sarandon, Francis McDormand, Judi Dench and Julianne Moore as performers because apart from being incredibly skilled, they bring so much of themselves to the roles they play which is very endearing. They also seem very intelligent and I’m sure I could learn so much from them.
What kind have training have you done?
I studied acting at McDonald College of Performing Arts, Australian Theatre for Young People, Brent Street Studios and did short courses at the National Institute of Dramatic Arts in Sydney. I’m currently studying with veteran acting coach Chick Vennera in Hollywood. I also studied Irish, Classical, Hip Hop, Jazz and Contemporary dance for many years.
What has been your favorite role to play so far?
I loved playing Sunny in The Last Night in Ballyhoo- it was a great production to be a part of and also Nina in The Seagull- the writing in that play was terrific. Apart from that, I loved working on Home and Away because there is such a great atmosphere on the set.
What projects do you have coming up?
I have a number of projects in the works; I’m currently promoting two films which are being distributed at film festivals internationally. My next big production is a television series called Party Time which I’m very excited about.
Who would be your ideal co-star and why?
I’d love to be in a production with Sean Penn; I’m in awe of his talent. Other than that, I’d like to act alongside Channing Tatum, for obvious reasons! lol
What are your plans for the future?
I really hope I can continue acting in a variety of mediums. Although I have a great love for the stage, I’m attracted to the subtlety of film and that’s where I want to continue to focus my efforts. Eventually, I would like to produce and collaborate with some of the people I admire.
What is your advice to aspiring performers?
