Australian racing club declines comment regarding horrific racing accident

The Australian 4WD Mud Racing Association has yet to comment on safety measures which may or may not have been taken to prevent the serious injuries caused to several children who were part of a crowd hit yesterday by an out of control 4WD. After the accident, bystanders in the crowd lifted the vehicle off of children that had been pinned under the vehicle. The mud racing driver "got out and knelt with his head on his hands," said Chris Nicholls.

At least two children are currently hospitalized in serious, but stable condition due to the accident.

The Herald Sun has reported the Australian 4WD Mud Racing Association declined to comment. In the motorsports industry, sanctioning bodies are held accountable for fan safety in accidents as well as driver and crew safety.
