It's not just microphones that the musicians will be chomping on this Saturday, they will also get some tasty popsicles as well as colorfully decorated icecream cones during the 3rd Annual IceCream Festival at Waterloo Park.
Each year this festival offers games, contests, activities, and concerts for local families, with many edible prizes and stylish gear to boot. Organizers encourage each participant to bring their dogs, family members, close friends, a good attitude and an appetite for scrumptious delicacies. Some of the proceeds will be donated to the Big Brother Big Sister of Central Texas charities. The sponsors for this event are Amplify Credit Union, KGSR 107.1, BOB FM 103.5, IKEA, Capitol Chevrolet, News 8 Austin, Paqui Tortillas. The festival will be entertaining locals from 10 to 7pm. It is only $5 for all day admission with children under 12 years entering for free.
There will be plenty of vendors at the festival including Amy's Ice Cream, silk works with jewelry, facepainters,pulled pork sandwich, chips, hamburgers, sausage wraps, chicken tender basket, corn dogs, hot dogs, funnel cakes, nachos, fries, cotton candy, fresh lemonade, oil paintings & prints, airbrush tattoos, dresses, wrap clothing & accessories, handmade soap, macrame jewelry and much more artwork from local artisans.
Live entertainment for this event will showcase some of Austin's most popular bands like Shotgun Party local western swing favorites, The Fire Ants a popular teenage bluegrass band, a children focused acoustic crew called The Strollers,The Hey Lollies a fasinating musical puppeteer group, local children's pick Mr. Leebot, and The Jolly Garogers a native powerpop rock group.

Waterloo Park is located at 403 E 15th St between Red River and Trinity St. The park has hosted several local acts over the past couple years. Its just north of the Waller Creek Walkway and has a scenic hiking trail. In latest news, Austin Parks and Recreation Department (PARD) is putting into motion a $1.6 million project with federal funds to rehabilitate the Waller Creek Hike and Bike Trail, first built out in the early 1980s. The taks is to bridge gaps between Waterloo Park and Town Lake. Also in the works an addition with more amenities including lighting, benches, and beautiful landscape features.
