A photo posted on Facebook by the Austin Fire Department on Oct. 31 has been seen around the world. The photo shows a Texas firefighter carrying a dog who appears to be holding on to the man for dear life through deep floodwaters.
The photo was taken as Firefighter Matt Harvey and Firefighter Michael Cooper were working to rescue a dog that was stranded in floodwaters left after 15 inches of rain fell on parts of Texas. The men were out rescuing human victims when they spotted the dog who is now known as Panda, and rescued her as well.
The Austin Fire Department posted the photo on Facebook with a caption that read:
“We don't just rescue two-legged victims...we love our four-legged friends as well,”
On Friday Nov. 1 the Austin Fire Department Facebook page posted a status update about Panda. The dog is reportedly doing well, and while she hasn't been reunited with her family she is microchipped, so it's just a matter of time before she is.
You can see an updated photo of Panda by visiting the Austin Fire Department's Facebook page.
