Thanks to the family's three dogs, everyone is safe from a fire that started in the second story of a home very early Sunday morning on the 200 block of Fanin Ave. in Round Rock, Texas reports kxan.com.

Neighbors called 911 when they spotted the blaze coming through the roof of the home.

It took the Round Rock Fire Department an hour-and-a-half to get the fire under control. An estimated $300,000 worth of damage was done to the home.

The homeowner told authorities she owes her life to her three dogs who woke her up when the blaze began. She stated she had been sleeping in a back bedroom.

Firefighters remind homeowners to change the batteries of their smoke detectors twice a year. Also, it is recommended that smoke detectors be changed and replaced with new ones every ten years.

Everyone was safe.

The Round Rock Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire.
