Carter Beckworth was born in Houston and raised in Austin. He’s lived a few other places, but returned to Austin in 2008 to form a band, Baker Hotel. He’d already released one solo album the year before, called Fairweather Grace. Since then, he’s recorded and toured both as a solo artist and with his band.
As a touring musician, he’s played with the likes of Ryan Bingham, Kid Rock, Hayes Carll, Radney Foster, and Bob Schneider. As a solo artist, he’s released one other full length album and an acoustic EP. Beckworth counts Joe Ely, Steve Earle, Ryan Adams, and Tom Petty among his influences.
His third full length album, Humble Heart, was recorded in January and February of this year, at Starstruck Studios in Nashville. The twelve track set was produced by Fred Mollin (Sheryl Crow, Chris Cornell), and features Music City musicians such as John Hobbs (piano), Pat Buchanan (electric guitar), Bryan Sutton (acoustic guitar/mandolin), Greg Morrow (drums), John Willis (guitar), and Larry Paxton (bass). The album is being released on Tuesday, September 24.
To celebrate the release of his new album, Carter Beckworth will be playing a set at The Tin Roof on Friday, September 27 at 9p.m.
