Aurora Christian seniors make college choices

Although National Signing Day is dominated by blue-chip football prospects and the colleges they select, three Aurora Christian High School seniors have finalized their college selections.

Shannah Morris, Stephanie Perik and Mallory Gilkey signed national letters of intent Wednesday to play collegiately.

Morris, who plays volleyball and softball, will attend Wheaton College in the fall. She hit .532 as a sophomore and .430 last season. The shortstop/catcher is preparing for her third varsity season.

Perik, a softball player, inked with Grace College, while Gilkey will play volleyball for Bethel College. Both schools are in Indiana.

Perik, who lives in Batavia, plans on studying education. She played second base and shortstop for the Eagles. The left-hander hit .370 as a junior a year ago and had just four errors in 27 games.

Gilkey was among the Eagles' kills leader during her senior season in the fall.
