On Tuesday, January 31, Target joined supermarkets Wegmans and Price Chopper in pulling Aunt Jemima® frozen pancakes from central New York store shelves. Last weekend, manufacturer Pinnacle Foods Group initiated the national voluntary recall of six varieties of Aunt Jemima® frozen pancakes that may contain soy protein, an allergen and ingredient not declared on the label.
According to Target's recall notice, Syracuse stores carried only the Buttermilk variety, UPC 19600-05820. The Buttermilk pancakes come in 14.5 oz. packages, 12 pancakes to a box. Recalled products have a “Recommended Use By Date” from November 1, 2011 throught October 16, 2012 stamped in a white box on the end of the carton.

According to the recall notice issued by Pinnacle Foods Group, this recall affects only six varieties of Aunt Jemima® pre-made frozen pancakes. It does not affect other Aunt Jemima® products, including waffles, French toast, entrees, sandwiches, boxed pancake mixes or syrup.
Shoppers who are allergic to soy should not eat the recalled pancakes. No illnesses had been reported to Pinnacle Foods Group when they issued the voluntary recall. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) listed the Aunt Jemima frozen pancake recall notice on its website on January 27.
Target is advising Syracuse shoppers who purchased Aunt Jemima frozen Buttermilk Pancakes in local stores to contact Target Guest Relations at 800-440-0680. The chain's recall notice also advises consumers who need more information to contact Pinnacle Foods Group directly at 888-299-7646 for more informaiton. Pinnacle Foods Group's information line is available daily from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. ET.
