Augustana Gives the Girls a Show

Nothing ends a weekend properly like a concert and Soma off Sports Arena Blvd. provided an excellent example. The standing room only, intimate concert venue hosted a hometown favorite, Augustana. The all ages concert was teeming with teen girls who let out screams and sighs as the all guy band from San Diego took stage. Reminiscent of Goo Goo Dolls or Wallflowers, the feeling and sound of the music and performance was very 90s with that added San Diego flavor of beachy vibes. The opening band was a young, also all male group, by the name of Tragic Thrills. This newly formed band was unexpectedly impressive and entertaining. The pop sound was original and the lyrics and musical talent evident. This hot band is certainly one to be watched and the teen girls agreed. The second act before Augustana took stage was a group called Twin Forks. The tunes put out by this band were rock worthy and the lead singer’s prodding of the too cool to sing audience was comedic. The three bands encompassed vastly separate sounds and pleased the mixed crowd of teens, parents, and those of us in the middle. Not a shabby way to end a bustling weekend for a person of any age.
