Auto sales for the Detroit Three surged in August, with each of the automakers posting huge gains. General Motors lead the way, reporting that sales are up 14.7 percent. Seven GM models set all time sales records, including the Cadillac XTS. Cadillac sales are up a whopping 37.8 percent in August.
Mark Reuss, the President of GM North America, sent out congratulations to workers and dealers on Facebook. His post reads “Great job to entire GM NA Team for a great month!!! 15 %, new product, new dealerships, great service and care!!! Great dealers and employees!!”
Ford Motor is also racing ahead with sales. August sales are up 12.2 percent. The big news for the Glass House is that retail sales surged 20 percent, giving Ford its best August since 2006.
Chrysler also saw a double digit sales increase. Chrysler sales are up 11.5 percent. Again, the big news is that Chrysler is posting strong retail sales and not just fleet sales. Retail sales mean that individual buyers are making purchases, a sign that the overall economy may be strengthening.
