Oh what a joyous occasion – an entire day set aside to enjoy sweet, sensuous, seductive fresh peach pie. Now that is a day worth celebrating!
And hey! Making your own wonderful peach pie isn’t rocket science, but it does take a bit of time, AND a great pastry recipe, which I just happen to have for you. Believe me, once you’ve tried this recipe for Perfect Pastry, I sincerely doubt you will try another.
And please, don’t use canned peaches. Take advantage of the season and use beautiful fresh freestone peaches. Yes, freestones, that benefaction given us by Luther Burbank. Beautiful, sweet and seductive peaches don’t have a very long season so take advantage of them while you can – make this wonderful pie, eat them fresh, put them in smoothies, cobblers, slice them on top of your waffles, slice them on top of vanilla ice cream, but enough of that – today is National Peach Pie Day, so make and enjoy a beautiful, perfect peach pie. Enjoy it warm with a generous scoop of French vanilla ice cream or at room temperature all by it’s self. Either way a good pie made from fresh peaches is pure heaven.
