August 2014 will be remembered as being very close to the typical late summer conditions.

Temperatures for the month were just slightly above average. The average low temperature was 61.06° which is 0.06° above average. The high temperatures were also slightly warmer than normal. The average high was 80.84° which is 0.24° above average. The average temperature for the month, which includes both the highs and lows, was 70.95° which is 0.15° above average. These temperatures are a stark contrast to July which was the fifth coolest on record.
The August precipitation was also close to average. Grand Rapids observed 3.68 inches, which was 0.09 inches above average.
The observed sunshine was slightly above average with 63.0% of possible sunshine. In a typical August we see 61% so that makes last month 2.0% above average.
