The Railway Man tells the epic true story of Eric Lomax, a British Army officer who is captured by the Japanese during World War II and sent to a POW camp in Thailand. There, he is forced to work on the Thai-Burma Railway. He is horrifically tormented when it is discovered that he built a secret radio to bring news and hope to his colleagues. Decades later, Lomax is still suffering the trauma of his wartime experiences. When he learns that the Japanese interpreter who was responsible for much of his treatment is still alive and has escaped prosecution as a war criminal, Lomax decides to return to his haunting past and confront his tormentor with the help of his wife Patti and his best friend Finlay. The film is a powerful and inspiring tale of heroism, humanity and the redeeming power of love.
