Audra Casterline crowned Miss Indiana

Audra Casterline will represent Indiana at the Miss America Pageant this September in Atlantic City. Casterline was crowned Miss Indiana on Saturday following several days of pageantry at Zionsville Performing Arts Center.

She qualified for the state pageant by winning the title of Miss Hoosier Heartland. She is a resident of Fisters, Indiana.

Casterline performed “Somewhere over the Rainbow” as her pageant talent. Her pageant platform is, “Food for Thought: Increasing Awareness of Eating Disorders.”

If she is crowned Miss America, Casterline will become the second Indiana titleholder to wear the national crown. The first was Miss Indiana 2008 Katie Stam.

A new Miss America will be chosen on Sept. 14. The final night of pageantry will be televised live on the East Coast on the ABC television network. A tape-delayed broadcast will follow for the West Coast.

Also on Saturday, Maddie Bryan was crowned Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen. She will represent Indiana at the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Pageant.

At the time of her crowning, she was Miss Three Rivers Festival’s Outstanding Teen. She attends East Noble High School.

Her pageant platform is, “Finding Your Passion: Encouraging Extracurricular Involvement.” Her talent at the pageant is clogging to Michael Jackson's "Bad."

She won the preliminary awards earlier in the week for active wear and talent.

The teen pageant judges contestants in an active wear competition rather than a swimsuit contest. It is the younger-sister competition within the Miss America Organization. Contestants are ages 13-17 years.

This year’s teen pageant is scheduled for July 29-Aug. 2 at Rosen Centre in Orlando, Florida.

If crowned Miss America’s Outstanding Teen, Bryan will become the first Indiana contestant to earn the national title. Four Indiana contestants have reached the top 10 at the national pageant since it began in 2005.

The pageant is not usually televised.
